My Husband Tried to Fix our Furnace

My hubby is under the impression that he’s “handy.” She always tries to “fix” anything that’s broken in our home.

In reality, she usually just takes things apart, studies their components, tries to identify the problem, plus attempts (usually unsuccessfully) to put them back together! While I appreciate my hubby, he’s rarely been able to solve any problems that arise in our home… Last winter, our boiler stopped blowing boiling air.

It blew frigid air, which only turned our house into a wasteland that was barely less frozen than the one outside. My pal plus I bundled up in layers of overcoats, blankets, plus socks, plus my hubby—toolbox in hand—determined to repair the boiler. I heard clanging, grating, banging, plus several expletives from down in the basement while I drank sizzling cocoa plus tried to distract myself with a Lifetime film, then all while thinking, “I don’t even want to know what havoc he’s wreaking on our heater!” After a few hours of this unsettling soundtrack, my hubby finally came back upstairs, but as usual, with slumped shoulders, she said, “Okay, it’s time to call someone.” I picked up the ipad plus called a trusted Heating plus Air Conditioning contractor. I was lucky that our local Heating plus Air Conditioning supplier has a 24-hour emergency line, plus they sent a contractor out instantly. The contractor ran tests on several elements of our heating equipment, plus she asked my hubby plus I several questions about the boiler to try to get an idea of what was wrong. After a few tweaks to the heating equipment, the concern was fixed, plus I was in a respectfully-heated heaven! I almost hugged her, then while I’ve always known that the best course is to call an experienced contractor, I suppose that message finally registered for my “handy” hubby!
